My name is Litsu Rehak. I am a U.S. Air Force Veteran, a retired federal civil servant, and a breast cancer overcomer.
My journey into wellness coaching resulted from decades of trying to lose weight. Except for times of extreme emotional trauma, I had never been in the "normal" BMI category. I had always played sports in school and exercised, and my maladaptive relationship with food and my body started with starving myself for days in order to "make weight" for track and field meets and binging afterwards (ages 11-13) to receiving feedback at volleyball camps from coaches like "if you just lost 10 pounds, you would be able to jump higher" (age 15). In the military, there were height/weight standards that I was always on the upper limit.
Like you, I tried all sorts of diets: rice, cabbage soup, low calorie, vegan, vegetarian, Atkins, paid weight loss programs. What I discovered is the diet industry has fed us a big lie. It is not yo-yo dieting but spiral up weight/spiral down self-esteem. While I might have lost weight in the short term, these diets were not sustainable and I ended up gaining back the weight and more. Even worse were the feelings of failure, doubt, fear, and guilt. I took a seat on the sideline watching everyone else living life. Diet became my prison warden and it controlled everything about my life.
In 2013, I was diagnosed with triple-positive breast cancer. At the time, I felt like I was in the best shape of my life, but 3 months of weekly chemotherapy + 6 weeks of radiation and 9 more months of monthly chemotherapy wiped me out. My chronic pain increased and over the period of 5 years, I put on 30+ pounds... After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics Work, I spent many years working with individuals inspiring them to achieve their professional goals. My passion is helping others achieve their life wellness goals that align with their beliefs and individual lifestyles. I have invested in world class Life and Stress Management Coaching Programs to obtain my certification by the International Accreditation Organization Certifying World Class Coaching IAOCWC.
I obtained my Group Fitness Certification from the Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) in 2012 and completed my 200-hour Registered Yoga Teaching training in July 2016. I am also certified in strength training (AFAA), aquatics (Aquatic Exercise Association), indoor cycling (AFAA) and Total Gym. I completed my Associate's Degree in Kinesiology in December 2020. I have a Nutrition certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). I am currently working on a Personal Training Certification from AFAA and a Weight Loss certification from NASM. My credentials and ever learning spirit, will translate into our coaching sessions.
